Confession time. I have been a planner nerd for decades. My first planner was the Franklin Classic. Does anyone else care to date themselves and admit to having used this system?
I have no idea if there were any other personal planner options “back in the day.” I faithfully bought the new Franklin yearly insert for several years – but always managed to let much of it remain unused. The system was based on two pages per day: one with an hourly schedule and one for notes. Two pages a day was way more than I needed.
Frustrated with wasting both money and paper, I took a long hiatus from formal planning. But the planner nerd in me wouldn’t be denied. I dabbled in a few different planners including Erin Condren, Carpe Diem, and the Happy Planner, but still couldn’t seem to find a system that met my needs.
Using Microsoft Word, I began the slow process of designing my own inserts. It was time consuming, but the act of creating an insert was extremely satisfying. In fact, I became a bit addicted to perfecting a weekly insert to meet my needs, and finally created a system that I used for an entire year.
Planner peace? Nope! Like Bigfoot, that creature doesn’t exist – or at least it’s impossible to find! But I thought I’d share the weekly page spread (half size pages) that I used for that year. Click the linked document titles below to be taken to the files.
